Our Programme: Beavers, Cubs & Scouts

At 7th Plymouth Scouts, we believe in adventure, skills for life, and fun for everyone! Our weekly programme is packed with activities designed to inspire, challenge, and support children as they grow. Whether they’re making new friends or discovering new talents, there’s something for everyone in Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts.

Beavers (Ages 6–8)

Beavers start the journey with:

  • Creative crafts and games

  • Nature walks and simple outdoor activities

  • Making friends and learning teamwork

  • Visits from special guests and local heroes

  • Exploring our community

  • Earning badges for trying new things

  • Their first nights away from home (optional sleepovers and camps)

Our Beaver programme is all about building confidence, having fun, and developing the basics that prepare them for Cubs.

Cubs (Ages 8–10½)

Cubs take on new challenges and adventures:

  • Outdoor skills like hiking, campfire cooking, and shelter building

  • Team games, problem-solving, and creative projects

  • Camps and sleepovers under the stars

  • First Aid basics and learning about the world

  • Helping out in the community

  • Earning more advanced badges and awards

  • Developing independence and leadership skills

Cubs get the chance to push themselves further, try new things, and work as a team—all while having a great time.

Scouts (Ages 10½–14)

Scouts step up to bigger adventures:

  • Overnight camps, expeditions, and adventure weekends

  • Rock climbing, kayaking, cycling, and more outdoor activities

  • Learning advanced survival and navigation skills

  • Taking responsibility for planning activities and leading younger members

  • International events and district competitions

  • Volunteering and community projects

  • Working towards top awards and personal goals

The Scouts programme is about growing in confidence, learning leadership, and preparing for the next steps in Scouting and beyond.
