Cub Scouts is the second section of Scouting and is designed for boys and girls aged 8 to 10 ½ years old. It’s an exciting programme that builds on the skills and experiences gained in Beavers while introducing new challenges and opportunities. Cub Scouts will get a chance to try many different activities like swimming, music, exploring, community and collecting, as well as going on trips and days out to places like the zoo, theme parks or a farm. Sometimes, they will be able to go camping with the rest of their Pack, which means sleeping in a tent and doing loads of outdoor activities.
Through these activities, Cub Scouts learn about themselves, get to know people and learn to work together, explore their community, and develop essential life skills such as leadership, independence and teamwork, all while having fun and making new friends. They work towards badges and awards that recognise their achievements and help them develop new skills.
Cub Scouting is about having fun, making friends, enjoying many activities, trying new things, and keeping the Promise. Above all else, it’s an excellent way for children to continue their Scouting journey and prepare them for the challenges and adventures ahead.
The Cub Scout Promise is:
I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God and to the King,
To help other people
And to keep the Cub Scout Law.
The Cub Scout Law is:
Cub Scouts always do their best
Think of others before themselves
And do a good turn every day.
The Cub Scout Motto is:
Be Prepared.
